D1 Summary


Europe is home to many nationalities. North to south, east to west, living in different cultural backgrounds, who are among the neighbors of the stereotypical views developed over time. They do not let to learn this nation free of prejudice. The planned partnership project "Breaking Stereotypes" focuses on young Europeans, a new generation of socialization and the value of a joint in the participating countries. This project provides an opportunity to develop young citizens who understands, appreciates and respects the cultural traditions of the peoples themselves and others, are tolerant and cooperative towards citizen from other countries and minorities.
The main aim of the project is to explore what different people know about more common stereotypes, foucsing on ethnicity, minority groups and gender and how the school can help students and community to understand the these differences and reduces prejudices. Schools should teach students (communities) to adapt to new cultures and create a atmosphere of tolerance. The second aim of the project is to investigate what participating countries are know for, that is what Europeans think of people living in other countries and ultimately how schools in the countries can prepare their students and communities to break the national and other (gender, minority groups and ethnicity) stereotypes.
To produce an educational model in each participating country, that ensures an appropriate set of teaching and learning opportunities for secondary students, to acquire the knowledge, skills and awareness specific for their own, their school and the wider communities impact on consideration of diversity in its broadest sense and growing tolerance.
The purpose of this project is to develop a collaborative project between students of the participating high schools using the tools of new technologies.
The activities and the final results are going to be published on the project website.The website which is a source for every participant will also be available for all internet users.
